Brandon Bounces Back... Flirts With No No... Again!

Brandon Morrow had a no hitter going through 5.1 innings yesterday in front of the home town crowd at McAfee Coliseum, but the Mariners' couldn't end an 10 game slide. The A's rained on Seattle's parade in the 6th. Brandon walked Baisley and struck out Buck. Then Carlos Gonzalez drove one over Ichiro Suzuki's head in right field, inducing flashbacks to Morrow's incredible 7+ inning effort against the Yankees in Seattle. With runners on second and third and a one run lead to protect, Brandon struck out Ryan Sweeney and got Cust to pop out to get out of the inning. But the pitch count was starting to pile up.
The Mariners tacked on two runs in the top of the 7th, taking a 3-0 lead. Brandon induced a fly out from Suzuki to start the bottom of the 7th, then walked Pennington. An RBI double to Bobby Crosby and another free pass to Barton followed and his day was done with a career high 113 pitches and a two run lead. He was credited with a quality start and received a no decision as Ibanez gave up the winning in the 8th. Morrow had a tough 4 inning performance in his prior start and was just happy to do well with 40 something family and friends in attendance. Were it not for PTownJunior's ball game yesterday, there would have been 4 more in Oakland cheering him on. Well done Brandon.

Give PTownFan a shout. It will make her day to know there is someone out there ;-) Don't worry. She doesn't always talk about herself in the third person like The Rickey.
