Happy Halloween. Jonesin' Already?

Me too.  But it won't be long until The Pearls becomes Las Perlas and brings highlights of Caribbean League Baseball to PTown readers. Tommy Everidge is playing in the newly reformed Puerto Rican Winter League  and a few other PTown area pros are angling toward teams in Mexico in the next several weeks.  The winter ball season ends with a Caribbean Series in early January.  This year, the series will be played just south of the border in Mexicali, home of the Aguilas.

And here's another way to feel some of baseball's thrill during the off-season.  The Athletic Edge Batting Cages in downtown Petaluma offer a hitting league during November and December.  Players age 7 through adult can sign up individually or in teams and compete for about an hour twice a week.  Machine pitched balls are scored on placement with a line drive to deadcenter being the big point winner.  There are Divisions for 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, Adults, and Women (who I'm sure can also hit in the Adult Division).  It's a lot of fun.  PTownJr and MrPTown will be joining me in the competition this year.  Here's a link to the Athletic Edge site for more information: Register On Line for Indoor Hitting League  The November league starts Wednesday, 11/5 so get your registration in by Monday, 11/3.  See ya there!

Thanks to a St. Petersburg Times reader for the Joe Maddon pumpkin.  You won't get me to say, "It was a spooktacular season."  Nope, no way  ;-)  Here's hoping a kid in a Rays jersey and a blue mohawk comes to your door tonight.  Just to keep the flame burning until October is officially over...

Give PTownFan a shout. It will make her day to know there is someone out there ;-) Don't worry. She doesn't always talk about herself in the third person like The Rickey.
