7/14 CUP O' JO

MEET PTOWN's PROS: Click Here

Recapping yesterday's action:

JOEY GOMES (OF, Joliet Jackhammers, Northern League IND):
7/13: 0 for 4 in a 6-7 walkoff loss to the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Joey put the ball in play during all four at bats. .247 Avg. The Jackhammers face Schaumberg at home tonight. Surely the 12 hour + busride from Canada will find them refreshed and ready to go ;-)
Joliet is 5-5 in their last 10 with a 2 game win streak.

PTownFan regrets that she wasn't paying attention. Had she been keeping an eye on the "Promotion Schedule" for the Winnipeg Goldeyes, she could have alerted you to the Great Toilet Giveaway following yesterday's game. What a memory maker it would have been to journey 1500+ miles to Winnipeg, see the Jackhammers drop a close one, and come home with a new biffy. I'll try to do better.

CHAD FILLINGER - P, Joliet Jackhammers, Northern League - IND:
7/13: Did not pitch in the loss to Winnipeg. 3.21 ERA.

LOUIS OTT (DH/INF Detroit Tigers Organization - Erie Seawolves, AA):
... LOUIS PROMOTED TO THE AA EERIE SEAWOLVES ...
... CONGRATS LOU!...
7-13: Louis had a solid debut in his first game with Erie as Saturday's rain shortened game resumed and Erie edged Altoona 12-11. 1 for 3 with an RBI single, 3 walks, 1K, and a ground out. Lou saw a lot of defensive action at 3B throwing out several runners. .333 Avg. Did not play in yesterday's second game, a 2-4 loss to Altoona. 000 Avg.
Erie is 4-6 in their last 10 with a 3 game losing streak.

TOMMY EVERIDGE (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA):
7-13: Tommy tore it up yesterday with a 3-5, 5 RBI day that included a 3 run Home Run in the first to key Midland's 9-6 win over San Antonio. .259 Avg Recap
Midland is 7-3 in their last 10 with a 1 game win streak.

KONRAD SCHMIDT (C, Arizona Diamondbacks Organization - Visalia Oaks, High A):... KONRAD PROMOTED TO CLASS A ADVANCED VISALIA OAKS...CONGRATS AND WELCOME HOME KONRAD!
7-13: Did not play in yesterday's 4-3 win over Bakersfield. Visalia is 6-4 in their last 10 with a 1 game win streak.

STEPHEN PEARSON (1B, American Assn-Wichita Wingnuts, IND):
7-13: o-4 in a 7-8 loss to the Lincoln Salt Dogs. .299 Avg.
Wichita is 5-5 in their last team with a 3 game losing streak.

JONNY GOMES (DH, Tampa Bay Rays):
7-13: Uggghhhh. The Rays have lost 7 straight and 13 straight at Cleveland's Progressive Field. Maddon opted to sit the slumping Carl Crawford so Jonny got a start in LF . He was officially 0-0, but drew two walks, scored once, and stole third. .185 Avg. Hinske replaced Gomes in the 5th when a RHP entered for the Trible. The Rays just couldn't get the bats going and relinquished first place in the AL East to the Red Sox at the All-Star Break. The Rays are 3-7 in their last 10 with a 7 game losing streak on the heals of a 7 game win streak just a short time ago. Watch for ROY candidate Evan Longoria in tonight's Home Run Derby. Catcher Dionner Navarro and pitcher Scott Kazmir will join Evan in representing the Rays in the All-Star Game.

BRANDON MORROW (P, Seattle Mariners):
7-13: Brandon bounced back from Saturday's blown save, facing the same two out batter that hit a walk off the night before. This time he entered the game with a one run lead, he struck out Buck for the second out and worked De Jesus to a full count before enticing a fly out to end it and notch his 9th save. The win avoided a sweep by the Royals. ERA now stands at 1.76. Seattle is 4-6 in their last 10 games with a 1 game win streak. Gameday Recap

PTOWN's UP AND COMERS:

DJ GENTILE (OF, Mat-Su Miners (Palmer, AK), Alaska Baseball League, Amateur):

Gotta tell you, finding and deciphering the Mat-Su stats is about a 25 click process so PTownFan isn't always sure she has the latest. Sorry DJ and faithful followers.

PTOWN LITTLE LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAMS

Click here for great photographs by Nina Zhito, Argus Courier

Petaluma Valley (PVLL) and Petaluma National (PNLL) still have one team in post season play. PTownFan wishes them all the best of luck! A tip of the cap to all players, coaches, managers, and fans of the teams that are now focused on next season and sleeping in this morning for the first time in weeks :-)

10/11 Year Olds - District 35 Final:
PNLL , winners of the South Area, won their "do or die" game against Ukiah last night and will face Mark West again tonight for the District Flag. Mark West won beat PNLL 15-9 on 7/11 so the underdog PNLL team will have their work cut out for them. The winner of the District tourney represents D35 in the Section I Tourney in Albany.

11/12 Year Olds (Major/Little Leauge All Stars) - District 35 Final:
South Area Champs, PVLL, continue on the Road To Williamsport for the Little League World Series with a 12-2 win Saturday over Ukiah. They will meet the Losers' Bracket winner today at 6pm for the District Championship. Next stop, should they win, will be the Section I Tourney in Woodland.

Give PTownFan a shout. It will make her day to know there is someone out there ;-) Don't worry. She doesn't always talk about herself in the third person like The Rickey.
