8-31 CUP O' JO

Just one or two games left for many of the PTowners. Play with passion and show 'em your best stuff. It's been a lot of fun following your season!

JOEY GOMES - OF, Joliet Jackhammers, Northern League - IND
and
CHAD FILLINGER - P, Joliet Jackhammers, Northern League - IND
The Hammers dug deep and surprised Winnipeg with a 3-0 shutout last night. Joey was 1-4 with a single and a .305 average. Joliet plays their final game of the season this afternoon at 3:05. It's fan appreciation day so tune in and be appreciated! Ha ha.

The guys will be headed home in a few days and Chad is already booking pitching lessons. Joey will also start up soon. If you'd like to get in touch with either of them, click on the email button and I'll hook you up.

LOUIS OTT (DH/INF Detroit Tigers Organization - Lakeland Flying Tigers, A)
0-4 with two Ks in the 9-3 loss to Clearwater. Hopefully Lou can get the bat going in Lakeland's season finale today.

TOMMY EVERIDGE (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA)
Yes! They win again! Midland topped Frisco 5-2, tying them for the 2nd half Division lead with two games left to play. Tommy was 2-4 with two singles and a run scored in the Hounds' big win. Midland and Frisco face off again today and in the season finale tomorrow. Talk about down to the wire. Look for a strong finish by Texas League All-Star Tommy Everidge who is hitting .279 and leading the league in RBIs by a mile.

KONRAD SCHMIDT (C, Arizona Diamondbacks Organization - Visalia Oaks, High A)
1 for 3 with a walk in yesterday's 3-1 loss to Stockton with two games to go. .343 avg. Given their strong performance this week, the Oaks playoff chances are still alive. If the Oaks pull to within a game of Modesto (67-67 overall) after Monday's season finale, it will force the make-up of the July 24 game between the two teams that was postponed because of a police incident in the area. Gotta believe. The way Visalia is playing, I wouldn't count 'em out.

JONNY GOMES (DH/OF, Tampa Bay Rays Organization - Durham Bulls, AAA)
2-3 with two 2 out RBIs, one a double, a run scored, a walk and a K in the Bull's 7-2 win over Charlotte. .255 avg.

BRANDON MORROW (P, Seattle Mariners)
Brandon pitches again tonight. Despite a shaky outing earlier this week, he's still scheduled to pitch against New York at Safeco Field next week per Seattle Skipper, Jim Riggleman.

Give PTownFan a shout. It will make her day to know there is someone out there ;-) Don't worry. She doesn't always talk about herself in the third person like The Rickey.
