Jonny The Hero As Durham Takes 2-1 Series Lead

Jonny provided all the offense yesterday as Durham bounced back from a 19-3 grilling at the hands of the Lousiville bats Thursday night.  The Bulls edged the Bats 3-2 yesterday in Durham.  Jonny hammered a 2 run home run in the first.  Sounds like it was a monster mash to left.  He knocked an RBI single to left to score Jon Weber in the fifth, giving the bulls a 3-0 lead. Meanwhile, Durham Ace, RHP Jeff Niemann took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. The Bulls now have a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.

Niemann (1-0) was brilliant through eight innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out 11. The Bats finally got someone aboard in the top of the eighth with a lead off double. Scott Dohmann earned his second save of the playoffs as he took over in the 8th and closed it in the ninth.

The Bulls play today for the chance to proceed to the Championship Round of the Governor's Cup Playoffs. Game 4 is tonight at 5:05 EDT.  Go Jonny Go.

Give PTownFan a shout. It will make her day to know there is someone out there ;-) Don't worry. She doesn't always talk about herself in the third person like The Rickey.
