Shock Jock Plates Two In Finale

Predictably, PTown's Pro got a lot of ink in the final days of the Rays' regular season.

After another slow Rays' start yesterday, Jonny Gomes entered the game in the 8th and hit a bases loaded ground rule double to tie the game. By the way, the pitch was an 0-1 change-up off a right handed pitcher :-)  Ben Zobrist was the bigger hero du jour however.  He singled home the go-ahead run and later blasted an 11th inning solo home run, his fourth of the series, to breaka 7-7 tie and give the Rays their 97th victory of the season. And earn MLB Player of the Week Honors. Keep the hawk Zobie.  That is some kinda magic.
Jonny's other distinction of the weekend is, well, possibly polarizing PTown. The dinnertable poll did not break in Jonny's favor. Only PTownFan thought it was phunny. Probably because PTownJr and MrPTown are secretly hoping they'll never be coerced into celebrating anything with such inhibition. Here's what went down.

Consider cuing the playlist (upper right) for an extra blast of gnarliness.
The featured #1 song  by AD/DC won't be in the playlist very long
in consideration of our less spirited readers.

Following the Rays' Friday evening loss to Detroit, the AL East title hinged on the Yankees/Red Sox game in Boston. Thanks to a downpour in Beantown, it took nearly 6 hours for New York to unravel the wrung out Sox by a score of 19-8 and hand Tampa Bay the Title. When the Rays reassembled in the Comerica clubhouse to party like rockstars, Jonny drank a celebratory Bud Light shooter from teammate Dioner Navarro's cup. Yup. That cup. Rumor has it that the clubhouse staff had not yet done the laundry if you catch my drift. The skipper ditched the "Merlot Joe" persona long enough for a shooter of his own. Whoa! You go Joe. PTownFan believes Dioner Navarro is the real MVP of the 2008 season and thinks its just awesome that his cup was plucked for the occasion.

Three of four fans surveyed may have dissed the shooters, but I'll bet Jonny's high school buddies at Peterson's Paint and my butcher at Petaluma Market are pumping their fists saying, "That's the Jonny we know."

Nutty Buddy, Unofficial Sponsor Of The Pearls Of Wisdom Blog, will sadly never be featured in a Rays Title Clinching celebration.  Design flaw.  Ventilation holes.

Give PTownFan a shout. It will make her day to know there is someone out there ;-) Don't worry. She doesn't always talk about herself in the third person like The Rickey.
