Ahoy Mateys...Pirates In Pursuit Of PTown Popeye?

Pittsburg Baseball blogs... and their newspaper... are buzzing about the Buc hunt for a power hitting right handed outfielder. They are not above giving a proven hitter coming off a bad year a chance at a bounceback season. Now I like that attitude. Arr!

Rocco Baldelli was courted by the Bucs, but he keelhauled his loyal Rays fans yesterday by signing with the enemy  Red Sox.  Sink me!!! Nick Swisher was high on the Pirates' list but he's owed $22M the next three years and well... that paycheck combined with his '08 stats have him bilged on his anchor**  if you ask me. I sure wouldn't bet THAT much booty on Swish.  Pittsburg's list of prospective pillagers is getting shorter every day.  They may bring a spring upon her cable and give Jonny a look.  Aye!
.
C'mon Bucs... scupper that Steve Pearce swabbie and let Gomes go on account.  I would love to see Nate McClouth Jonny Gomes patrol the outfield at AT&T Park.  If it can't be with the Giants, might as well be when the Pirates come to town.  Jonny splashing one into McCovey Cove? Pearlacious.
.
Jonny is a born swashbuckler. With Gomes in the Crow's Nest, Bilge Rats go straight to Davey Jones' Locker without so much as a shot across the bow.  Nope.  No warning shots when spikes are high.
.
.
Jonny's already got his sea legs... even after splicing the main brace on his way to a grog blossom. Quite the carouser, he is.
.
.
He's not one to swing the lead, but the guy is good with an axe.  And has shown a certain propensity for knocking baseballs outa the park with those Popeye-esque arms of his.  Give Jonny a Letter of Marque and have a look during Spring Training.  He might just help you haul in the Motherlode in '09.  Arr!

  2. Arrr...

Aye missed this one last week due to the complete and total crash of my hard drive. Followed by the complete and total realization that my backup(s) had failed to properly execute themselves. That is one scary Separated At Birth contest entry. I shall have to use that one day in the not too distant future. Scary resemblance.

Are you an alum of the SDMT? I have personally been to the Montana campus in Butte. Only the above ground portion though. The Lewis and Clark Caverns are the extent of my spelunking. Not sure I'm brave enough for too much of that with Yellowstone getting ready to pop her cork again.

Give PTownFan a shout. It will make her day to know there is someone out there ;-) Don't worry. She doesn't always talk about herself in the third person like The Rickey.
