CUP O' JO - Dec 8, 2008

TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA) Hmmm. The Grinch has stolen Tommy's mojo.  He was 0-for-4 with a K in yesterday's extra inning loss to the Leones of the Dominican Republic in Puerto Rican-Dominican Interleague play.  Tommy hit a bunch of fly balls but hoovered every one of the 97 balls that came his way at 1B yesterday.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA): Not so happy trails for PTown Area Pro Jason Lane.  The Sharks have sent him home.  Alex Sanchez will replace him. Yes, THAT Alex Sanchez. Die hard Rays fans will recall that Alex became a Tampa Bay Ray just a few years after the Coast Guard plucked him from a raft from Cuba.  Not content with surviving the perilous journey and 16 luxurious months at Guantanamo Bay, Alex sought to pump up his chances in the MLB and became the first MLB player to be suspended for performance enhancing drugs (disguised as over the counter nutitional supplements) during his "second chance tour" with the Rays.  He'd been passed around a bit a lot with a history of injuries and a less than stellar clubhouse reputation. Jettisoned from the Rays a second time by Lou Pinella, Sanchez bounced around a bit a lot more before working his way up to a .347 avg with the Atlantic League Long Island Ducks last summer.  At which time he was put on the Inactive List.  Dude appears to have some issues. He will not make The All-Time Greatest Devil Rays Advent Calendar.

Obviously, Venezuela is no longer a wholesome environment for Jason Lane and we welcome him home.  Conveniently, I'm looking for a teammate or Personal Hitting Coach for the January Indoor Hitting League right here in PTown and Jason, I'll bet you would mash. And I'm not a complete liability with a bat. I'm currently almost tied for the lead with the legendary bull rider, Jon Bannister, as I try to defend my back-to-back-to-back championships and match the dynastic record of the Casa Grande Gauchos. Never mind that Jon is hitting left handed.

As is the Caribbean custom, the firing of the gringo and the arrival of the reinforcement was announced in all the Venezuelan Sports pages:

Alex Sanchez arrives for La Guaira

The gardener will again reinforce Sharks. Jason Lane was fired

La Guaira Sharks did not want to wait any longer for Jason Lane and agile Alex Sanchez will arrive this weekend to replace him in the share of outsiders.

The information provided by the manager Carlos Suber himself before the game against the Magallanes Navigators in Valencia.

"Sanchez will come to the country as soon as possible," said the strategist in his statements from the field of Jose Bernardo Perez Stadium.

Has reinforced earlier to Dogfish, which has left an average of around 300 points.

It is also a gardener with experience of five major league campaigns with the Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants.

Strengthen the gardens of litoralenses, who kept Ben Harrison and Colonel Chris imported between their position.

It's over the Sharks was expected to some extent patient with the performance of Jason Lane.

After his arrival was several days in the league in parallel, seeking to cap its position before moving to a big team.

The former reinforcement of the Caracas Lions had a dull start, however, preferred the directive mario lost to Colonel Mitchell Abreu when he returned to the country.

He was given a boost to Lane, but he was unable to lift their numbers.

In total, in 14 meetings with salted could barely registering a .209 average, only 9 of 43 turns at bat unstoppable. Vuelacercas downloaded pair, but were not sufficient to convince La Guaira to change their mind.
The Kid in order to see this weekend is expected to debut in the season Francisco Rodriguez, however, has not yet confirmed a date.

In fact, all indications are that the first action of the leader in saves in the Major Leagues in Venezuela this year takes place after the winter meetings of the biggest clubs, that is, beyond the Dec. 11.

As was learned, Rodriguez traveled to the United States with a view to accelerating the negotiations on his next contract. For the first time in his career, "57" is a free agent. The New York Mets were the team that has shown more interest.

CUP O' JO - Dec 6, 2008

TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA) After being rained out on Wednesday and enjoying a day off Thursday, Tommy went 1-for-4 with a single in Carolina's 5-2 win over Arecibo yesterday knocking off one of three teams tied for first place.  The Gigantes are only in the cellar by a half a game so let's hope for a big week for Tommy's team.  And someone needs to send him a new glove or sunglasses or something...  PTowns Great Pelotero had a pair o' errors again yesterday.  Ouch.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA): Jason was 1-for-3, bumping his average to .209 in Thursdays 4-1 loss to the Bravos.  He also had an error.  Did not play in yesterday's 7-3 win over the last place team from Magallanes.

CUP O' JO - Dec 4, 2008

I have been waiting the entire winter ball season for a Google-ator Complete Game worthy of "broadcast" over the Pearls of Wisdom. Fanaticos of beisbol south of the border... we have a winner.  Last night's game between The Sharks and Lions in Venezuela was a thriller and could only have been better if PTown area pro Jason Lane had hit the winning dinger. I already had one Cinderella season with the Rays, so I really wasn't expecting the Beisbol Gods to deliver anymore heroics. Like Jonny Gomes being feted as the 22nd Greatest Devil Ray Ever.  No, Jason is gonna have to conjure up his own legendary home runs.

Without further ado, Google-ator, that nifty little button on your Google Toolbar that turns ordinary Spanish into extraordinary beisbol lore, brings you all the drama of the Leones @ Tiburones on 3 Diciembre, 2008.

MAXIMILIAN WAS THE HERO
Por:Tortuga fuentes

04/12/2008

When Ronald Belisario dominated Franklin Gutierrez rolling with the short field, struck out Marco Scutaro with the third strike sung, and put in two strikes and one ball to left-handed Josh Kroeger opened the ninth entry, with the advantage of two races, the 13,516 who fantato were in the stadium thought Universitario Belisario be credited rescue his fifth of the season.

But it was not. Belisario, rather than saved, left the game as the winner of Picher one of the most exciting matches played in recent weeks by the rank and salty.

The story is as follows. Kroeger hooked him unstoppable right into the garden in mind two strikes and one ball, then Alex Cabrera connected a double for the same sector, which allowed Kroeger scored the fifth glimmer bringing the game 6 to 5.

The manager of the Lions brought a pop to run for Cabrera (Jose Duarte), who scored from second with one of those who batazos in baseball called "rotten" for the second. For those who are unaware of the term, is one of those batazos without forcefulness that does not come with force to any position, forcing the second baseman Liu Rodriguez to attack him with despair to make the first shot at trying to get the final out of the game, which give us the harrowing victory.

Have earned well, with that out desperate, I would have been important, but not as tasty as at the end was the victory.

We continue with the story. The man who hit the so-"rotten" for the second arrived quiet at first, but the runner who was second in his career never stopped, and although the initial shot was rushed to home, it was impossible to avoid the tie.

Needless to say, fans of Caracas who were in the stands on the left held a large way, hurling beers that cost them three thousand bolivars, and shouting the same chorus of classics: "Now sardine, Touch me the samba."

What they did not know was that the Sharks fans, the truth, those who celebrate the triumphs, not walking hitting screams offending players and technicians for any error, these fans really responded to his cry of Batelle " The left, the left, the left! ".

And that was just what they did warriors of Sharks, hit and in the best possible way: with a home run in mileage between the garden center and right, over there where we need to give it a mandarria it out when you're right hitter.

And who was the hero of the night?

The closure of the ninth began with Danny Sandoval received a ticket in 3 and 2 in a well-fought round. Sandoval connected two major unstoppable in this game, and scored both times in the race. But this was the most valuable ticket, possibly.

Gregor Blanco came with a mission to make sacrifices to bring the race to win in the second, but it's not easy maneuvering a line like that of Jose Ascanio, a young man who once belonged to Sharks but now is one of the promises of the Atlanta Braves in The major league baseball. I hope you have not changed, because if so, tomorrow there will be people criticizing my ignorance. What is done. In games like this everything is done in memory.

Total high Gregor failed to foul to catcher for the first out, and Luis Hernandez also failed with another high foul, which was showcased on the defensive left the castle Jose.

With two outs on the board and many fans and journalists who would swear extra innings, Ascanio launched a wild pitch that moved the runner emerging Cesar Suarez (who entered to run for Sandoval) to second.

With the first free and "Cachi" in two balls without a strike, the manager decided to terminate feline moving to confront the fourth bat Maximiliano Ramirez.

Behind Ramirez, in the drawer was prevented from hitting the rookie Angel Rodriguez, who entered in the eighth looking defensive.

The first pitch was a ball Maximilian, and many thought they would receive a ticket in disguise to confront Rodriguez, who likely would be replaced by someone more experienced, as Edwin Bellorín, for instance.

But it seems that Ascanio had other plans, and its second launch before Maximilian was a straight down the middle, which shields the Shark range.

Perhaps emboldened by that swing, Ascanio tried to repeat the dose, and the result was one of the most exciting home runs in recent weeks, he did crazy, once again, to anchor the right side of the stadium, where is the samba and Shark loyal fans, those who stay until the end, and supporting their players on good and bad. Those living insulting possibly when the Lions were Tied.

The receipt of Maximilian on the plate was apoteósica.

All equipment Brincos hitting like crazy, happy for having defeated the Lions in the 4 games that we were being home-club this year. We have two games against our rivals the capital, and both of them will be the hosts. For now the series is 4-3 in our favor.

There were certainly some bad things, as three defensive mistakes that we complicated the scene, but when you win does not speak of evil, not even the 12 punches to us the tip picheo caraquista. None of that account, because in the end we won, which is what matters.

So to celebrate with restraint because we are playing a double game against the Braves Margarita, and with this victory we are tied in third with two more teams.

So to sleep peacefully and wake up smiling, seeing the caraquistas with satisfaction that will be on the tip, but it is a rib of others, not us.

And tomorrow we are in the stadium, to keep the team aupando more cheerful Venezuelan baseball, in good and bad.

The talk is over. Come evening that is!

****

By the way, Jason Lane was 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in last night's drama. He's batting .200.

CUP O' JO - Dec 3, 2008

TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA) 1-for-1 in a pinch hit appearance at DH in the Gigantes 5-3 loss to second place Mayaguez.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA):  Rained out.

CUP O' JO - Dec 2, 2008

No games in Puerto Rico or Venezuela yesterday so I found a few Oldy But Goody Googleators in The Pearls' Treasure Chest from the 2005 Mexicali Aguilas.  In fact, I think the Googleators have commercial potential.  Maybe a beisbol based "Wii Can Learn Spanish" video game starring Yogi Berra.
“Mays (No... not Willie Mays.  These Pearls aren't THAT old. Or THAT good.) stamped again in the fifth episode.  Aaron Holbert gave simple the power station and the second long cushion was swindled to write down with hit to the power station of Luis Alfonso."
There is much attention to "the equipment" in Latin Beisbol.  A few examples:
“The Naranjeros wrote history in that fifth entrance, where after two outs Jorge Luis Valle and Stolen Héctor bound doublets to move the slate and that in the end was a quite heavy stoneware for the dreary equipment."
and one of my all time favorites:
“The foreigners are the peloteros that must inject vitamin to the equipment."
Yes, indeed.  The Tiburones and Gigantes will need many vitamins... and even more hits... from Jason and Tommy during the next few weeks.

CUP O' JO - Nov 30, 2008

TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA) Woo!  Los Gigantes picked up a WIN yesterday, topping Ponce 5-3.  Tommy was 0-for-3 with a line out to second, a fielder's choice up the middle, and fly out.  The skipper put in a pinch hitter for Tommy in the 8th.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA): Travel   Jason was also 0-for-3 at first base, but without the happy ending as Los Tiburones went down in a hail of shark teeth with an 11-1 loss.  Lane flied out twice and grounded into a double play and was pinch hit for in the 9th.

The ever optomistic reporter for the Tiburones implores us to keep the faith:
A total of 13 connected Zulia unstoppable, and had people on base in all inings, with the exception of the seventh inning, when the torch War brought the only junior through 1-2-3 leg of the match, retreating to Brandon by Katina path of punch, with Rodney Medina elevated to second and Juan Pablo Camacho 4-3 on the road.  (Translation:  Yee haw. A 1-2-3 inning.)

Sharks for their part mounted their only threat in the seventh leg, when La Mura accepted unstoppable followed by Maximiliano Ramirez and Wilfredo Romero, and Ruben Salazar received bolazo to fill the bases with no outs. Jason Lane hit for a double play by the combination 6-4, 4-3, to La Guaira scored their only run. Colonel Chris received another bolazo to replace two on base, but Cesar Suarez failed with rolling for the second to end the threat.  (Translation: Jason Lane drove in The Sharks only run... while grounding into a double play.)

So forget the bad in this game, replenish energy and prepare to level the series on Sunday before returning to the capital. (Translation... C'mon boys...  feel the PTown love and start hitting that ball!)

CUP O' JO - Nov 28, 2008

TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA)  Puerto Rican beisbol took Thanksgiving off.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA): 1-for-2 with a single and an RBI in last night's win over the second place Cardenales.  With a pletora of pitchers from which to pick (38 in fact), the Tiburones plucked the Cardenales 13-8.  They have a few travel days ahead.

Thanksgiving Cup O' Jo

Happy Thanksgiving!  Here's to gatherings of thankful family and friends, tasty turkey and all the trimmings, and a good nap!  This PTown family got a headstart on the whole celebration, enjoying our traditional turkey dinner last night and looking forward to a low key gathering at Grandpa and Grandma's house this afternoon where both are under doctor's orders to sit back and relax. Recent events have proven that neither elder can be trusted to follow those orders so we're having a no fuss, no muss lasagne feast instead.  The tale of their last 6 months may well play out on a Hollywood screen someday.  It's a chain of events that you really can't make up. But hey, this is a baseball blog so let's get down to it...
TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA) Did not play as Carolina dropped yet another one. Puerto Rico has Thanksgiving off.
JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA):   In a night laden with double digit ERAs for both teams, Jason had a great game despite the team's 22-20 loss to Lara.  He was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, four RBIs, three runs scored and two walks raising his average to .194.  La Guaira is now in a tie with Aragua for third place and face second place Lara again tonight. If their are any pitchers left.

Enjoy your holiday!  I'm off to bake a pumpkin pie.

CUP O' JO - Nov 26, 2008

TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA) Tommy returned as DH in yesterday's 4-2 loss to the Mayaguez Indios.  He was 0-for-four on the night with a K, a ground out, and two fly outs.  Carolina remains in last place, 4.5 games back.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA):  Did not play in yesterday's 1-0 loss to Los Tigres. They hope to pick up a game on the second place Cardenales today.

Since the beisbol highlights are few, let's see how the opposing Manager's chatter translates via Google-ator:
"Hector interviewed by the Cordaid anteroom to the radio transmission, the manager Carlos Suber noted that the team is not yet playing at full capacity, but said that even when you do so you can lose games. His words were, more or less: "Sometimes you lose playing well, because the team plays better, or because their batazos are more rendidores. That was exactly what happened Tuesday night at the Jose Perez Colmenares of Maracay, in the match in which the Aragua Tigers defeated the Guaira Sharks of the slate with 1 race to zero."
Fascinating.  Hopefully the Thanksgiving Day Cup O' Jo will be more entertaining.  If I get to it.  Lotsa slicing, dicing, and pie making today.  And that red dining room is da bomb. Benjamin Moore's "caliente" is muy perfecto!

CUP O' JO - Nov 23, 2008

TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA) Did not play in Carolina's 5th straight loss.  Hot hitting outfielder, Armando Rios got the nod at 1B yesterday and went 0-for-3, fueling speculation that a curse has been cast upon peloteros playing that position.  Carolina has dropped into the cellar, 5 games back.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA):  Woo-hoo!  Big night for Jason capped off with a three run jack, producing the team's only runs in their 4-3 loss to Caribes.  Google-ator recaps the 5th inning long ball.
"The three entries came from La Guaira in the fifth inning, when Edwin Bellorín connected the first encounter by the unstoppable Sharks, Michele Abreu received a ticket, and Jason Lane connected immense square on the left to put the match 3 to zero.
Souths like Jason had an opportunity in an earlier at bat:
In his previous shift, Lane was the victim of a great caught by the outfielder Ray Sadler, who not only stole a EXTRABASE, but also completed a 8-4-3 double play because they Michele Abreu route and headed to the third vat with that the batazo pegaría against the wall.

And a shot at game winning hero status in the 9th:
Sharks mounted a serious threat in the ninth when Abreu opened with a double to right, but Lane ruled with a strong line that did look at the short field Jonatan Herrera, Maximiliano Ramirez, emerging Liu Rodriguez, who failed with machucón was near the home and was touched by the same Eliecer Alfonso, and Luis Hernandez ruled 6-3 route.

All that and they put a picture of the losing pitcher on the website with a caption that he was unable to achieve his third victory.  Where is the love?

It's election day in Venezuela so no games today. Let's try to conjure up some exceptional mojo for Tommy whose team hosts second place Santurce today.

CUP O' JO - Nov 20, 2008

PTown Weather Forecast:  Dreary, damp and drizzly.  Mid 50's.  That will match my mood if the A's don't add Tommy Everidge to their 40 man at today's deadline. That move would protect him in the Rule 5 Draft and keep local hopes alive that one of our guys might actually get to play close to home.  The A's added two pitchers yesterday, bringing the roster to 39 and aren't likely to use the final slot for Tommy. But hey, gotta believe.  C'mon Billy. Let's fill up the Coliseum with North Bay Sports Fans.
TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA)  Ouch. Los Lobos de Arecibo gnawed on the Gigantes bigtime yesterday. Tommy was 0-for-5 in the 19-5 loss with two K's, 3 fly outs and, gasp, his third error in three games.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA): 0-for-3 with a walk as the Tiburone's first baseman yesterday.  Jason's team notched a 6-1 win over league leading Caracas, closing the gap to 3.5 games.  La Guaira's win steak is now 7 games.  Hope Jason can get the bat going soon. His .167 average in only a few dozen ABs doesn't mean much, but they're not too patient down there given the high cost of gringo talent. Jason hit .233 during the 2008 season with AAA Scranton Wilkes-Barre and AAA Pawtucket.

The Google-ator of Jason's game was much more upbeat, albeit quite extensive.  For you speed reading Rays fans, I have highlighted the accomplishments of Tampa Bay's Fernando Perez.  The gazelle hit two triples for the losing team after joining them yesterday.  The Google-ator Glossary needs an update after this round.

Wednesday night has a name: Brian Gordon.

When the pitcher came out to greet U.S., responding to the call by the euphoric Fanatic that filled the stands of the stadium University, and is proudly grabbed the hand of his flannel where the Sharks logo, the crowd went crazy.

It is not the first player to be imported fond of the colors and more cheerful because of the team's Venezuelan baseball, but we dare say that's who has earned the highest respect and admiration for one of the most demanding of our Fanatic ball.

Brian Gordon warned that ining the first since the won-lost record of the lions of Caracas, and the high average group that maintains the department as a leader in this tournament, were not enough to put fear.

The first bat of Caracas, imported from a surname which showed that Perez is more than a fallow deer and that is that the speed that made him reach Major Leagues with Tampa Bay, opened with a triple heart by the rave made to fans Lions around that, according to a message circulating on the Internet, should begin to play against the Yankees, the Red Sox and Philadelphia, because apparently this league remains small.

It must be admitted, and remember that it is the team leader of the tournament, with the best record, 3 games and media Sharks, who remains in the second.

But that triple play was called, as they say in La Pastora, phthisic of joy, because Gordon struck out the next three batters, leaving anchored at 90 feet what might have been and was not the race quinella.

The U.S. struck out Marco Scutaro, Jesus Guzman and Jose Kroeger, which is like saying that a range Manny Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez and Jim Thome, according to the form as splendid in these early weeks.

Franklin Morales, the opener of the Lions, was living up to their commitment, and the closure of that first inning also received couple of incogibles, but not to be outdone took out his three outs via punch.

Those who were in the stands thought: Well, get ready to watch a duel of picheo.

And so it was until in the second inning, the newcomer Wilfredo Romero caught a line that he deposited in the stands of Centerfield tempranera advantage to give the team home-club, or the Glorious Tiburones de La Guaira.

The troops salt added two more in the third to reach 3 to zero, and three more in the sixth to give final figures to the game.

The Lions deducted in the sixth with a home run of bigleaguer Franklin Gutierrez who was about to catch Wilfredo Romero in left field, and then Fernando Perez, who is the name of the gazelle who have caraquistas to bat first, hooked his second triple of the game, and again with no outs in the third, with the possibility of putting the game for a career, because in that the opening of the sixth game was 3 to 1.

Scutaro, who already carrying two punches in the game, gave the line pitcher that Gordon became the first out, by 1-3.

Jesus Guzman, who was unstoppable connecting to the center in his previous shift (the second hit of Caracas at the time) by the third shot and "Cachi" launched at home to withdraw the plane Perez, in a reminder that no one is more the ball.

And finally Kroeger failed with short field line to Luis Hernandez to conclude with the threat.

It should be noted that for the first time a pitcher throws Sharks 8 inputs complete, and that Gordon was administered in a way that only 100 picheos needed to complete the 8 inings.

Ronald Belisario, but did not come in to save (the game was 6 to 1), pulled out as the ninth 1-2-3 on the road to remind the manager Carlos Suber and coach Phil Regan pitcheo to be with him when it comes to the small, and Oscar Salazar connected to two new unstoppable maintained, comfortable, as the batting champion in the league right now.

With this victory Sharks reaches its seventh victory in a row, matching the series and a 3-3 edge with the Caracas Lions. Also important input from Wilfredo Romero (4-2 with a home run and two driven) and Ruben Salazar (4-2 with annotated), who has just arrived to the team emanating from the Aragua Tigers.

Anyway, another night of joy for the Sharks fans who celebrated in big, and that tomorrow will be resting seeing the results of other games because Sharks will be free.

Friday and Saturday play in Puerto la Cruz before some Caribs of Anzoategui who come to sweep in his home recently, but those were other Sharks, with the same enthusiasm and the same delivery, but with a little less luck!

On Friday, must go Harold Eckert and Henry Bonilla on Saturday to finish the sixth week of the tournament.

So to rest ligand to continue, and that come too late!
I'm exhausted after reading that recap.

CUP O' JO - Nov 19, 2008

Las Perlas now has two players from the 707 area code to blog about in the Caribbean League.  Jason Lane has joined Tiburones de La Guaira in the Venezuelan League.  His team is riding a 6 game win streak at the halfway point of their season, 4.5 games behind first place Caracas.  Around Thanksgiving, a new wave of pros generally arrives to replace underperforming "foreigners" as the teams make their playoff run.  Good to see Jason get a shot in Venezuela.  He earned some quality mojo with his Camp For A Cure efforts and donations and we wish him well down there.

JASON LANE - Tiburones de La Guaira, Venezuela (OF, 2008 Red Sox Organization - Pawtuckett, AAA):  Jason has 4 games on the books for the Sharks and is batting .200 after going 0-for-5 in last night's 21-7 romp over Arugua.  Jason had a walk, a run scored and 3 Ks playing left and right field.  Some game highlights, in native Google-ator of course:
Sharks got him the most of each of its unstoppable, and made everyone pay dear for errors and tickets issued by the defense and the pitchers of the Aragua Tigers, to beat them slate heavy with 21 races to 7 at the stadium Jose Perez Colmenares of Maracay.
Sharks began their attack from the very first inning, when the opener Aragua Rich Hill, EMBASE to Gregor Blanco and Luis Hernandez with a ticket and beaten respectively.  Oscar Salazar followed with the first of his three unstoppable in the evening...  Built 5 more sharks racing in the second inning, 5 in the fifth, and 8 in the seventh to put final figures to a party that puts the series including 2-1 in favor of La Guaira... The Picher winner was Enrique Gonzalez, who would launch as planned after Ortega, and 4 inputs and two thirds allowed 3 runs, a single clean.  Enrique is the same problem to get in a shooting error in the second inning when the Tigers made the 3 races... Highlighted with the bat by Sharks Gregor Blanco, with its hit 200 and 201 of his career, the latter a two-run driver and Cesar Suarez 3-2 before going out of beaten on his right elbow.
Wow. One for the ages.

TOMMY EVERIDGE - Los Gigantes de Carolina, Puerto Rico (1B, Oakland A's Organization - Midland Rockhounds, AA)  1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and a walk in last night's 7-4 loss to league leading Aricebo.  Tommy picked up his second error of the season and was gunned down at the plate on a fielder's choice with one out and the team leading 4-2.  .294 avg, 22nd in the league as of 11/18.  A 5 run 7th inning capped off by a 3 run single was the undoing of Los Gigantes last night:
Then Martinez was replaced by Julio Rodriguez, who gave away free ticket to Jorge Padilla to fill the pads. A incogible the right of Edwards Guzman towed emptied the cushions to give them the advantage to end the visitors 7-4.
The Giants are now in a three way tie for fourth... or last... depending on whether you're a glass-half-empty or glass-half-full sorta person ;-)
